Juan Manuel Marquez wins his 4th bout with Pinoy fighter Manny Pacquiao by a knock out on the sixth round. The stunning turn of events is touted as the fight of the year and knockout of the year. Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank promotions, said, “This fight will go down in history as a ring classic.” He also raised the possibility of a fifth clash if the two fighters want to do it again.
“I never expected that punch,” the Philippines boxing champ said after the bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. “He gave me a good shot. That’s boxing, sometimes we get hit.”
“I started to get overconfident, but I never expected that punch,” Pacquiao added.
Pacquiao scored three-1st round knockdowns against Marquez in 2004 only to settle for a controversial draw. He won his next two bouts against the Mexican in 2008 and 2011 via close decisions.
