Retired boxer and now promoter Oscar de la Hoya predicts that Floyd Mayweather Jr. will come out victorious over Manny Pacquiao if ever the 2 fighters meet in the ring.
De la Hoya, majority owner of Golden Boy Promotions (GBP) which handles Mayweather’s fights, said Pacquiao will have a difficult time fighting Mayweather.
“Mayweather has the style to beat Pacquiao,” he said in Boxingscene.com.
De la Hoya is also confident that Mayweather will be able to beat Pacquiao by stoppage.
“He will do it by knockout,” said the retired boxer, who thanked Pacquiao for asking the Mayweather fight.
Interestingly, De la Hoya quit his bout against Pacquiao in 2008.
He was forced to surrender after the 8th round following some heavy beating from the Filipino.
This didn’t happen when De la Hoya fought Mayweather in 2007.
He nearly defeated Mayweather but eventually lost the fight by split decision.
